Exploring the wonders of creation used to involve buying an expensive telescope, then driving out to the country at 3am to find a perfectly dark area, allowing you to get a better look at those shimmering lights in the sky. Microsoft has just made skygazing MUCH easier with their WorldWide Telescope project. Either download their application or use the web app (high-speed connections only) and get up close and personal with planets, stars, nebulae, and an occasional unknown object here and there.
