This article walks through setting up a TOAST.net Dial-Up Networking connection (connectoid) within Windows 95/Windows 98.

  1. Double click on My Computer.

  2. Double click on Dial-Up Networking.

  3. Double click on Make New Connection.

  4. The connection wizard will begin. In the Type a name for the computer you are dialing: field, type TOAST.net.

  5. Make certain the connection is using the correct modem and click Next to continue.

  1. Type the Area code and Telephone number of the TOAST.net access number in the designated fields.

  2. Click Next to continue.

  1. Click Finish.

  2. Within Dial-Up Networking, right click on the new TOAST.net connection and left click on Properties.

  1. Within the TOAST.net properties, click on the Server Types tab (sometimes a button).

  2. The following options should be the only checked (all others should be unchecked):

  • Enable software compression

  • TCP/IP

  1. Click OK on all of the TOAST.net properties windows.

  1. Double click on the TOAST.net connection.

  2. Enter the following information:

  • User name -- Your TOAST.net dial-up username

  • Password -- Your TOAST.net password

  • Save password -- Should be checked if you want Windows to remembers your password
